Forthlin Sessions!
~ #TheForthlinSessions ~
We were chosen from hundreds as one of the four acts to visit, write and perform at Paul & Mike McCartney’s childhood home 20 Forthlin Road in “The Forthlin Sessions”, a performance that was broadcast on the 18th June 2022 in celebration of Paul’s 80th Birthday. The house, which the @nationaltrust now cares for, is known as “the birthplace of the Beatles”, as it is where around 30 of the iconic band’s songs were written and rehearsed!

Humm who?
‘Brace yourself to traverse a musical odyssey that surpasses conventional boundaries’ - Fame Magazine
'Winners of the National Trust Forthlin Road competition which allowed them to visit, write and perform at Sir Paul & Mike McCartney’s childhood home 20 Forthlin Road, Liverpool' - National Trust
Arty Jackson and Carys Lewin are ‘Humm,’ a southwest based contemporary folk duo with stories to tell, minds to change and worlds to re-imagine. Creating music which unites fellow nature-lovers with their inner activist.
Rooted in traditional music, Humm have created a new, eclectic sound, with influences ranging from John Martyn and Joni Mitchell to Paul Simon, Eels, Radiohead and XTC.
Casting a collective spell over young and old since 2018 with their rich harmonium drones, melodic finger-style guitar and lush ethereal vocals. Humm take listeners on a twisted journey through love and heartbreak, telling folkloric tales of Welsh saints and Greek sinners, Cornish fairy tales and mediaeval legends.
Being staunch environmentalists themselves they find their music always leads back to one place: the importance of planet preservation. With the natural world at the heart of Humm’s music, soaring melodies and wistful instrumentation bring their earnest lyrics to life, solidifying their place in folk music.
Having enthralled audiences across the UK, with notable sets at Cornwall Folk Festival, The Green Note, London and Worthy Earth Festival, Hampshire they are looking to the future, who knows what it might bring…
Common musical themes: LGBTQIA+, Nero-diversity, mental health, Environmental causes, curiosities of life, creatures of the earth, myths and legends and history.
